About the Book

This book examines the multi-dimensional and multilinear process of Dimasa state formation from 13th to 19th century CE and seeks to explain why the evolutionary theory of state formation process or the dominant civilizational construct of unilinear transtition from tribal to state system does not find ground in the case of Dimasa state. It seeks to explain how and why the Dimasa state is the result of a synthesis of old tribal practices and the acquired monarchical state system.
