About the Book

This book describe the verdant jhumfields cultivated by the Dimasa Kacharis which were sites where numerous worksongs were composed in-situ by the folks; they were sites where community bonds were forged, values were permeated and a unique culture developed which had an innate and organic connection with the landscape. The landscape carry memories of the Dimasa ancestors and their archaic traditions and values. The trek of the village folks from their village to the jhumfields and vice versa left behind cultural trails and worksongs became a beacon of such trails.
